Groundnut, mustard oils fall on subdued demand


New Delhi, Aug 24 Select edible oils, groundnut and mustard, drifted on the wholesale oils and oilseeds market in the national capital today due to subdued demand from millers and retailers.

However, firming trend in Malaysian palm oil, limited losses at domestic markets.
Meanwhile, November-delivery palm oil gained 2.4 per cent to 2,402 ringgit (USD 685) a tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
Traders said absence of demand from millers and local parties mainly led to a fall in select edible oil prices.
They said reports of rains in some growing regions hampered the crop which helped prices to decline.
In the edible section, mustard expeller oil lost Rs 20 at Rs 5,200 per quintal, while groundnut mill delivery oil lost Rs 30 at Rs 5,970 per quintal.
Following were today&aposs quotations in Rs per quintal:.
Oilseeds: mustard seed 2,250-2,425 and groundnut seed 2,050-2,800.
Vanaspati ghee (15 litres tin) 700-810.
Edible oils: Groundnut mill delivery 5,970, Groundnut Solvent refined (per tin) 980-1,020, Mustard Expeller 5,200, Mustard Pakki ghani (per tin) 690-845, Mustard kachi ghani (per tin) 845-935, Sunflower 6,500, Sesame mill delivery 6,000, Soybean Refined mill delivery 4,900, Soyabean degum (Delhi) 4,650, Crude Palm Oil (Ex-kandla) 3,500, Cottonseed mill delivery 4,400, Palmolein (RBD) 4,250 , Rice bran (phy) 3,750 and Coconut (per tin) 1,030-1,040.
Non-edible oils: Linseed 4,300, Mahuwa 4,100, Castor 6,200-6,300, Neem 4,000-4,100, Rice bran 3,450-3,550 and palm fatty 3,175-3,250.
Oilcakes: groundnut de-husk 800-850, Sesame 950-1,150, Mustard (new) 1,025-1,050, Mustard 1,200-1,210 and Cottonseed 1,075-1,175.
