NEW DELHI, Aug 27 (Reuters) - India's monsoon rainfall deficit in the June 1-Aug. 26 period was 25 percent, two government sources told Reuters on Thursday, with improved rains in the past week narrowing the seasonal shortfall by 1 percentage point.
According to a Reuters calculation based on the data, confirmed by one of the sources, rains in the week to Aug. 26 were 6.6 percent below the long-term average.
