NEW DELHI, Aug 18 (Reuters) - The Indian government and sugar mills are planning to take steps to boost sowing of sugarcane, the president of the Indian Sugar Mills Association, Samir Somaiya, told reporters.
"We want to create an environment where output meets Indian demand," he told reporters after meeting Farm Minister Sharad Pawar, adding incentives were needed to improve cane plantation.
Sugar mill owners and the government are scheduled to meet again in two days.
