NEW DELHI, Aug 18 (Reuters) - Corn and rice output in India's Bihar state may drop by 75 percent this year because of poor monsoon rains, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told reporters on Tuesday.
Bihar is one of India's leading corn producers, but this year the crop could be sown in only 40 percent of the normal 350,000 hectares, Kumar said after meeting Farm Minister Sharad Pawar.
Rice area in the state also contracted similarly, he said. (Reporting by Mayank Bhardwaj; Editing by John Mair)
