KOLKATA:
Mustard seed prices remained nearly stable at Rs 525-527 per 20 kg in the spot market over the past four days
on steady arrival of
oilseeds at its major mandis in Jaipur and Alwar in
Rajasthan.
Currently, about 15,000 bags (1 bag = 85 kg) of mustard seed are
arriving daily in the wholesale markets of Jaipur and Alwar, which help
the oilseed price stabilise at around Rs 525-526 ex-Jaipur and the ex-Alwar
price at Rs 526-527 per 20 kg in the current week.
As cultivation of mustard seed and its close cousins — rapeseed and
toria — are being undertaken in the rabi season, the current supply of
mustard seed, which is hitting the market, is coming from last year's crop
which was harvested in February-March, 2009.
